Galaxy on Fire 2 HD dashes onto BB10 including Valkyrie and Supernova add-ons

Tuesday, April 30th, 2013

Fishlabs Entertainment ports its award-winning open space shooter and both of the associated expansion packs to BlackBerry’s new mobile operating system BB10.

The Hamburg-based mobile games developer Fishlabs Entertainment and the Canadian wireless innovation and technology company BlackBerry have teamed up to bring Fishlabs’ flagship title to BlackBerry’s new operating system. As of today, Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD is available on the BlackBerry AppWorld with full optimization for BlackBerry’s new signature smart phone, namely the BlackBerry Z10. Support for additional BB10 devices will follow in the upcoming months. In addition to the main game, Fishlabs has also ported both of the extensive story add-ons, Valkyrie™ and Supernova™, to the new platform. Consequently, BB10 is currently the only OS besides iOS and OSX for which the Supernova™ add-on is available.

Technically and graphically, the BB10 porting of Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD is pretty much identical to the successful iOS version of the game. And also in terms of content, the BlackBerry users will be offered the full package consisting not only of the main game, but also of both of its add-ons. Furthermore, the BB10 version of Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD will also support external save game transferability via Scoreloop as well as various in-app purchases such as credit packs or a permanent 50% discount on selected in-game items.

“BB10 is a fantastic operating system and the Z10 is a very capable highend-smartphone with a huge display and top-notch 3D-performance”, says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment. “Especially when you keep in mind that BlackBerry does not only provide state-of-the-art technology but also a devoted and willing-to-pay clientele, BB10 is indeed an excellent platform to a AAA-premium-game such as Galaxy on Fire 2 HD.”

Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD can be downloaded from the BlackBerry AppWorld for US-$ 9.99 via http://bit.ly/gof2hd-bb10. The add-ons can be unlocked via IAP for US-$ 4.99 (Valkyrie™), US-$ 6.99 (Supernova™) or US-$ 9.99 (Combined).

The current launch of Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD on BB10 marks the second collaboration between Fishlabs and BlackBerry to date. In July 2012, both companies had already joined forces to bring Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD to the BlackBerry PlayBook.

About Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD:

In Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD the player will not only be able to explore a vast, living galaxy with more than 20 different star systems, 100 individual space stations and 30 fully customizable space ships, but he will also be able to follow a rich and engrossing story line with full English voice acting. The title’s epic plot centres on the protagonist Keith T. Maxwell’s bold and daring adventures in a war-torn galaxy governed by four different factions, namely the Terrans, the Vossk, the Nivelians and the Midorians.

Due to a malfunction of his hyper drive, Keith T. Maxwell is catapulted through space and time. 35 years later, he awakens at the far end of the galaxy, where he soon realizes that quite a lot has changed during his unintentional absence. An aggressive and particularly devious alien menace known as Voids threatens the fragile peace between the different alien races by launching devastating raids on freighters and convoys of all factions. And Keith T. Maxwell is the only one who can stand up to this seemingly invincible enemy and save the universe from its impending descent into chaos.

The add-ons Valkyrie and Supernova add two new campaigns and tons of new content, such as space ships, weapons, power-ups, star systems and gameplay features, to the main game. All in all, the add-ons expand the 20-hour-playtime of Galaxy on Fire 2 HD by another 10 hours. Valkyrie kicks in right where Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD left off and Supernova takes place directly after the events of its antecessor.

New Content for Volkswagen’s iOS Racer Sports Car Challenge: Experience Singapore by Night!

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

Fishlabs has just released a new update for Sports Car Challenge, the latest brand game of Volkswagen Group China, which lets you experience the beautiful city of Singapore by night.

Fishlabs Entertainment and Volkswagen Group China have just set the second wave of free content updates for their multi-award-winning 3D racing simulation Sports Car Challenge for iOS and Android into motion. As of today, all fans enjoying the title can get free access to a new race track as well as two new gameplay features by upgrading their app to the latest version on the App Store. Sports Car Challenge features an exclusive selection of high-end sports cars by renowned brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, and Volkswagen.

Sports Car Challenge by Volkswagen China and Fishlabs Entertainment - 3D Racing Simulation for iOS and Android - New Update
The new race track is called Singapore by Night and leads the players through the neon-lit streets of the Southeast Asian city-state. Thanks to the circuit’s impressive attention to detail, the players will pass by a whole variety of carefully re-modeled sights and landmarks, such as the Supreme Court or the Singapore Flyer, just to name a few. For the fans of Sports Car Challenge the new race tracks marks a particularly interesting novelty, because for the first time ever since the app’s initial launch on the App Store in late 2011, they will not speed along an actual race course, but cruise through an authentic city – namely the world-famous metropolis of Singapore with its 5,000,000 inhabitants and unique architecture.

Sports Car Challenge by Volkswagen China and Fishlabs Entertainment - 3D Racing Simulation for iOS and Android - New Update
In addition to the new race course, the new update will also include two novel gameplay features. The racing line on the one hand indicates via green, yellow and red arrows where to go in order to reach the finish line in record time. It can be switched on or off for all five circuits. The brake assistant on the other hand helps you to hold the line even when there is a particularly sharp curve or tricky passage ahead of you. It is available in four different stages: Off, Low, Medium and High.

In the upcoming months, the current update will be followed by a number of additional content updates, which will include more sports cars and game modes. The first wave of free content updates for Sports Car Challenge had been released between February and August 2012 and added no less than four new vehicles from well-known brands like and three new circuits as well as a 1st person cockpit view and a variety of other enhancements and improvements to the title. Over the course of the last year, Sports Car Challenge has become an enormous success for the developer and the partaking brands. To date it has not only generated more than 6,000,000 downloads on the App Store and Google Play but also won an impressive number of four international marketing awards on three different continents.

The expansion continues: Fishlabs hires two new AAA- and Cross-Platform experts

Friday, February 22nd, 2013

The Hamburg-based mobile gaming specialists of Fishlabs expand their production and development teams by hiring an additional Android Developer and Executive Producer.

Hamburg, Germany – Fishlabs Entertainment adds two new mobile mavens to their 75-strong team. After the company’s game design and development departments had already welcomed no less than four new colleagues earlier this year, the most recent hiring includes a new Programmer and a new Project Manager. With many years of work experience in the industry, the company’s new Executive Producer Michael Krach is more than well-suited to oversee the development of a new Fishlabs IP and put studio’s high expectations and aspiration into practice. Over the past couple of years, the mobile platform has been evolving on a rapid pace and the budgets for AAA-mobile-games have been growing constantly. Therefore, a lot of expertise is needed in order to put even more ambitious projects into practice. Besides Krach, Fishlabs has also hired Stefan Heiler as Game Developer. He will primarily focus on the company’s Android development and cross-platform efforts.

Michael Krach - Executive Producer at Fishlabs Entertainment

Michael Krach - Executive Producer at Fishlabs Entertainment

With Michael Krach (33), Fishlabs welcomes an experienced AAA-expert onboard, who is a skillful project manager as much as he is a talented team leader. After passing his Business Administration Degree, he started working for the Boston Consulting Group before he went on to operate as Producer for Electronic Arts Phenomic in Germany and DICE in Sweden. Over the years, Krach has not only amassed an extensive knowledge in the field of in-game monetization but also left his mark on an international scale. While working for Crytek in three different locations (Kiev, Seoul and Frankfurt), he was responsible – among others – for setting up the management structure of the 100-strong development team of the successful AAA F2P-shooter Warface.

Stefan Heiler - Android Developer at Fishlabs Entertainment

Stefan Heiler - Android Developer at Fishlabs Entertainment

Stefan Heiler (32) has joined the Fishlabs team as Game Developer. In the course of his computer science studies at the University of Hamburg, Heiler already gained a lot of valuable work experience in the fields of system administration and development in his position of student employee at renowned companies such as IEA Data Processing Center and conion media GmbH. He finished his studies with a thesis about “The implementation of efficient cross-platform 3D graphics on current-generation smartphones and state-of-the-art desktop PCs”. Afterwards, he went on to realize a number of projects as freelance Software Developer for Flashpoint AG.

“In less than a decade, mobile gaming has undergone an evolution that took the consoles a total of three generations. And this trend is going to continue on an even faster pace in the years to come,” says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment. “Hence, it is all the more important that we don’t rest on our laurels. Instead we have to rack our brains today in order to find ways to fully max out the smartphones and tablets of tomorrow. In order to realize this goal and offer our fans nothing but one-of-a-kind gaming experiences, we have to combine our eight years of experience on the mobile market with the skills and know-how of the top-players of the international video games industry. Michael is the ideal man to oversee such ambitious and time-consuming projects, because he does not only have many years of work experience at some of the most successful studios in the industry, but also a profound knowledge in the field of in-game monetization in hardcore games with high production values. And, of course, Stefan’s in-depth knowledge in the area of cross-platform development is highly valuable for us as well. Especially for our upcoming multiplayer title, the Android platform with its enormous install base is an extremely important market, which we cannot afford to neglect. Thanks to his expertise and education in this field of work, Stefan will be a key player in our future Android endeavors.”

Game On: Fanta Fruit Slam launches on Facebook and the Apple App Store

Friday, December 21st, 2012

Fanta is turning to the exciting world of interactive gaming to create more play. The new Fanta Fruit Slam game, designed and developed by Fishlabs Entertainment and available globally on the brand’s Facebook page and as a free download on the Apple App Store, is a fight to the fruity finish.

Dodgeball meets food fight in the 3-D experience, which immerses teens in Fanta’s rich and colorful world. As different kinds of fruit fall from the sky, players must pick up, throw and dodge fruit on their way to a flavorful victory.
“We’ve been focused on the brand vision to create more play over the past five years, and now we are taking this message beyond TVCs and other traditional forms of advertising into the digital and virtual space where we can interact directly with consumers,” said Matthias Blume, Global Brand Director, Fanta. “We want to communicate the value of play, which has a positive impact on teens’ development but is often unfairly seen as a frivolous waste of time.”
The object of the game, which stars the beloved characters and flavors from the global Fanta “Play” campaign, is to “slam” your opponent with as much fruit as possible, draining their power meter before they drain yours. Each fruit and character has its unique strengths and weaknesses, and players can “Power Up” with more points by drinking a virtual Fanta during the game. A multi-player mode lets users invite friends to play against them via Facebook, and publish high scores, trophies and game-related content to their social newsfeeds.

“The beauty of Fanta Fruit Slam is that it can be played for just a few minutes at a time,” added Blume, who said Fanta has quadrupled its Facebook fan base in 2012, to more than 5.6 million likes. “It’s a ‘snackable’ game that provides light entertainment and immerses consumers in the Fanta brand without being intrusive.”

Users can also play cross-platform. This means that teens riding the bus home from school can play against each other on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, or face off against a friend playing at home on Facebook.
“One of the most exciting things about the Fanta Fruit Slam game is its ability to be easily activated in markets,” said Heather Chappell, Global Content Excellence. “We’ve already created the game in 12 different languages on both Facebook and the App Store so all our Fanta fans around the world can play with each other and their friends.”

Features of Fanta Fruit Slam:

- Singleplayer mode with bosses and survival features
- Four different settings: Park, Beach, Sports Ground and Backyard
- Seven playable Fanta Crew characters: Gigi, Andy, Floyd, Maud, Tristan, Lola, and Todd
- Multiplayer mode: Beat your Facebook friends or take on random opponents in “Best of Three” battles
- Ten different fruits from the Fanta line of drinks
- Five different power-ups for special bonuses
- Three online leaderboards: Worldwide, National and Facebook Friends
- Facebook integration: Share your highscores and achievements
- Available in 12 different languages
